While the investigation into the tragic event at LynnMall is ongoing, Police have been made aware of false information being shared on social platforms.
Commissioner Andrew Coster has urged anyone who comes across this type of information to be aware that much of what is circulating on social media platforms, is either false, or inaccurate. Read his statement.

The LynnMall attack has been deeply upsetting for communities across New Zealand.
We understand that people may be feeling vulnerable as a result of the attack. Our community liaison staff are working hard to ensure all our communities feel well informed and supported.
Police are working hard to investigate the attack as quick as possible. But we’re also aware of some incorrect information about it online. Please be aware of the information you read, as much of it is either false, or inaccurate. The Police website and our social media pages are trustworthy sources for accurate information about this investigation.
The events at LynnMall were the actions of one person alone. His views do not represent any community. We are not seeking anyone else in relation to the attack.
We want to reassure our communities, that we are doing everything we can to ensure your safety. You will see us patrolling more often where there are larger gatherings of people, such as at essential services and places of worship.
