If you have had property stolen or attempted to be stolen (for example, in a burglary), you can report it online to Police.

Include identifying details in your report

For example:

• make and model
• colour and size
• distinguishing features
• the serial number, if it has one.

Tell the bank if your payment cards are stolen

If the stolen item is a payment card – for example, an EFTPOS /ATM card, debit card or credit card - contact the bank that issued the card. They can cancel the card for you.

Check whether the loss is covered by insurance

If you have contents insurance, check your policy as it may cover the loss of your item(s) even if they were not in your home at the time.

You will receive a confirmation email with a reference number on it that you can use when you claim on your insurance.
