Police have added three arrests to their cart after a burglary in Papatoetoe on Wednesday morning.
Counties Manukau West Area Commander, Inspector Ross Ellwood, says Police were called to reports of a broken window at a supermarket on Saint George Street around 2am.
“The informant witnessed three people running from the scene with what appeared to be a supermarket trolley full of items.
“Eagle was nearby and was soon in position overhead to observe movements of those believed to be involved.”
The group were seen entering an address on Saint George Street a short time later.
“With the assistance of Eagle, the group were seen unloading the contents of the trolley into the house,” Inspector Ellwood says.
“Police units were quick to respond and those involved were arrested at the address without further incident.”
Three youths, aged between 11 and 14, have been referred to Youth Aid in relation to this matter.
Inspector Ellwood says the items were recovered and have since been returned to the business.
Police would also like to thank the person who reported the matter to Police.
“Vigilant reporting is often be the key to Police being able to respond in a timely manner and hold people to account for their actions.
“We thank those in the community who are our eyes and ears and alert us to this behaviour.”
