This Cabinet paper has been prepared by the Ministry of Health, Te Whatu Ora and New Zealand Police on behalf of the Minister of Health and the Minister of Police.
The paper sought Cabinet approval to develop a five-year plan to transition from a Police-led response to a multi-agency approach to supporting people in mental distress presenting via 111.
On 28 August 2023, the People in mental distress presenting via 111: transitioning to a multi-agency response was confirmed by Cabinet.
