Police investigating a number of burglaries in Kamo have today arrested a male believed to be responsible.
Whangārei Area Prevention Manager, Senior Sergeant Aaron Crawford, says Police conducted a series of search warrants this morning at residential addresses in the area in relation to several burglary investigations.
“While making enquiries, Police located a person of interest and quickly apprehended him without incident.
“The 44-year-old male has since been charged with two counts of dishonesty and is due to appear in the Whangārei District Court tomorrow.
“It is likely bail will be opposed.“
Senior Sergeant Crawford says he hopes this arrest provides some reassurance to the public.
“We would like to reiterate to the community that this type of offending will not be tolerated.
“Police are pleased to bring a resolution to those who have been victim to these crimes and we will continue to pursue those who choose to engage in unlawful behaviour in our communities.”
While a number of enquiries remain ongoing, Police are limited in providing further comment as this matter is now before the Court.
Senior Sergeant Crawford says we encourage anyone who has been the victim of dishonesty offending to contact Police and report it as soon as possible.
“Suspicious activity can be reported to Police on 111 if it is happening now, or 105 if it is after the fact.
“Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.”
