Arrest and detention - Police Manual chapter

The Arrest and Detention chapter ensures that the correct legislative powers are used when arresting or detaining an individual/person(s), and that the arrest or detention is of a reasonable or necessary nature in any particular case. Some parts of this chapter have been considered not appropriate for release and, if requested, would be withheld under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). In this chapter, the relevant sections of the Act that would apply have been identified.
