Police can confirm that the 24-year-old man wanted in connection to Operation Deadwood, the ongoing investigation into a sophisticated phone scam, handed himself into Police in Hamilton yesterday evening.
He has been charged with money laundering and is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court today.
Police can also confirm that five people have now been arrested this week as part of our ongoing enquiries and are all due to appear before the courts on money laundering charges.
That brings the total number of people arrested so far as part of this operation to 18.
Police enquiries will continue to identify anyone else allegedly involved in money laundering activity.
Police reiterate that you should never give your personal details out to a stranger over the phone and we remind the public that Police or any legitimate business will never ask you to transfer money over the phone.
Anyone who has been a victim of this phone scam and has lost money is asked to report it by contacting your local Police station.
