Investigation into Lime scooter crash in Dunedin concluded

The investigation into a crash between a Lime scooter and a Freightliner semi-truck in Dunedin in January has been completed.

A 26-year-old woman riding the scooter collided with the truck on Cumberland Street around 1:45am on January 18.

The Police investigation determined that the rider of the scooter failed to stop at a red traffic signal at the intersection of Dundas and Cumberland Streets, and collided with the southbound Freightliner.

The investigation concluded that the driver of the Freightliner was not at fault, and made every effort to avoid the collision.

The rider of the Lime scooter is making steady progress in her rehabilitation from serious injuries.

Police urge users of Lime scooters to familiarise themselves with the vehicle prior to any trip, and all users of vehicles have an responsibility to follow rules and regulations set down in the Land Transport (Road User ) Rule 2004.
