As Rotorua prepares for the Lakeside 2019 Waiata Mai Concert on Saturday the message from Police is to have fun but to stay safe.

“We hope that everyone enjoys their night, looks after each other and has a great time,” Inspector Anaru Pewhairangi says.

“Enjoy engaging in the spirit of the event. This is a great opportunity for us to come together and enjoy each other’s company.”

Police are working closely with the Lakeside organisers and the Rotorua Lakes Council to ensure the event is safe.

A number of officers will be working the concert as per standard procedure.

Remember to stay safe, look out for your peers and to act responsibly.

And if you are visiting Rotorua for the concert Police hope you enjoy the manaakitanga (hospitality) of Rotorua.
