Media Advisory: Summer road safety campaign launch – Drive safely, people’s lives depend on it

New Zealand Police and the NZ Transport Agency want to help prevent harm on our roads and remind people in the lead up to Christmas that all road users have a responsibility to uphold on the road by acting safely.

On 30 November Police is running a joint national road policing operation with the NZ Transport Agency, focusing on impairment prevention and other general road safety checks.

You are invited to the operation, details as follows:

Time: Approximately 7:00pm Friday 30 November: Media standup and Q&A with New Zealand Police National Manager for Road Policing Superintendent Steve Greally and NZ Transport Agency Co-Director of the New Zealand Road Safety Partnership Chris Young.          

Location: Wellington Central City, specific site to be advised upon RSVP.

Requirements: If you want to film on and around the road at the checkpoint site while vehicles are being stopped, hi-vis clothing must be worn.
