Police remain at the scene of a serious crash in Marsden Point, Northland involving a petrol tanker and a car.
Sadly, two people have now died.
Marsden Point Road will be closed for some time and the Serious Crash Unit remains at the scene.
Police have also reopened SH1 in Oakleigh, which had diversions in place for a short time, following a separate crash where minor injuries were reported.
Motorists in the area are urged to take extra caution on the roads and exercise patience with heavy rain and diversions creating a backlog of traffic in the area.
