Police are seeking witnesses to a fatal crash on State Highway 2 at Waikino, in Karangahake Gorge around 9pm on Friday 2 February.
The Serious Crash Unit are investigating the crash between two cars in which one person died at the scene.
A female dog called Stormy (pictured) ran from one of the vehicles after the crash and has not been located.
Anyone who saw the crash or may have seen Stormy since is asked to contact Thames Police on 07 867 9604.
