Things you can do to keep your vehicles secure [video]
In the second video with advice on "protecting your stuff" Sergeant Tania Van Ooyen from Wellington District takes people through a few simple crime prevention tips that can deter thieves from targeting vehicles.
National Manager Prevention, Superintendent Bruce Bird said the new video, along with a companion one about home security, fit in well with the Police's Prevention First strategy.
"In many ways it is common sense, but people do need reminding. Everyday police attend burglaries and car crimes that could have been prevented if people just followed a few simple security tips.
"As Tanya says in the video it is very easy to become complacent, but every day people learn the hard way."
Mr Bird said the online videos were another way for police to get crime prevention messages out to the public.
"The videos are very short, easy to understand and remind people about the basic things you can do to keep yourself and your property safe."
You can get to the clips in the "safety tips" section of the Police website.
