Police are urging motorists to be patient amid severe tailbacks on SH1 at Mata, following a serious crash earlier today.
A logging truck, an SUV and a third vehicle were involved in the collision which temporarily blocked part of the highway south of Hewletts Road, near Whangarei.
The road has been cleared, but traffic is backed up significantly in both directions.
Police understand the frustration of being caught up in traffic delays and would like to thank motorists in advance for their patience.
