Police reminds those attending the Marlborough Food and Wine festival this weekend to take care of themselves and their friends.
The event takes place tomorrow, Saturday 11 February, and Acting Prevention Manager Detective Sergeant David Woodley says there will be a Police presence at the venue to ensure it is a safe event for all.
“We want people to enjoy themselves and the delicious food and beverages the festival has to offer, but also to take care of each other and get home safely,” says Detective Sergeant Woodley.
“If you are going to be drinking, make sure you eat plenty of food throughout the course of the day, as well as eating something substantial beforehand.
“We also want to see people plan ahead for getting home safely at the end of the day. If you’re drinking, organise a sober driver, book a taxi or organise sharing a ride with a sober driver."
Drivers leaving the festival can expect to see a Police presence on the roads.
It’s also important to look after your belongings, minimising chances for opportunistic thieves and vandals. Look after your bags, keep hold of your valuables and if you do drive, ensure nothing is left visible in your vehicle that could be a target for thieves.
“If everyone looks after each other, plans ahead and drinks responsibly, we look forward to a safe and fun event for all.”
