Auckland Police would like to identify the man pictured in this series of photos, as part of an investigation into the reported kidnapping and assault of a man outside a shopping mall.

The victim, aged in his 20’s, was sitting in his 2010 Holden Commodore Station Wagon (pictured) between 1.00-1.30pm on Monday 26 September.

He was parked outside Auckland's Sylvia Park shopping centre, near to the entrance of the Amazon surf shop. He has described to Police about being approached by two men, who forced him into the back seat of his car.

The victim has detailed to Police about being driven around wider Auckland and being repeatedly assaulted. He has described being knocked unconscious during at least one of the assaults.

The man pictured is seen getting out of the victim’s car at a petrol station in the south Auckland area of Wiri, at the time of the reported kidnapping. The man pictured bought petrol and paid in cash. The victim’s car can be seen in the background.

The victim was eventually driven to Riverhead, in rural West Auckland, where he managed to escape. He sought assistance from a resident on Riverhead Road, who contacted Police.

The victim was taken to hospital where he received medical treatment for a black eye and bumps and bruises.

His dark-grey Holden Commodore is still missing. It has a distinctive “Soundstream” sticker on the top front windscreen and the same sticker again on the back windscreen. It has a body kit, mag wheels and tinted windows.

“We’ve made a number of enquiries into this case in the past few weeks, but we still don’t know what the motivation is behind this attack, or where the victim’s car is” says Detective Constable Lewis Sin, Glen Innes Police.

“These are good photos and we’re hopeful this man will either come forward and speak to us, or someone will know who he is and help us out” he says.

The two offenders are described as the following

1. (Pictured) Male Pacific Islander, aged in his mid 20’s to early 30’s, wearing sunglasses, noticeable acne scarring on his face, tattoo on his upper right arm.
2. Male European/Caucasian described as being very pale, with a leg tattoo, wearing shorts and a hoody.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Lewis Sin on 021 191 3041.

Information can also be given anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
