More than 40 cannabis plants and a large amount of methamphetamine paraphernalia have been found at a Clyde home after Otago Lakes-Central police executed a search warrant.
The warrant was issued in relation to three importations of methamphetamine which had been intercepted by Customs at the New Zealand border.
Otago Lakes-Central Police executed the search earlier this morning.
“We’ll continue to focus on anyone who may be involved in the trade or manufacture of cannabis, methamphetamine or any other controlled drugs,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Malcolm Inglis.
“Thanks to the co-operation between Police and Customs, more methamphetamine has been stopped from circulating in our community.
“Too often we see its devastating effects, not just on users, but on families and the wider community.”
A 22-year-old local man has been charged with the importation and selling of methamphetamine, and cultivation of cannabis.
He will appear in the Dunedin District Court on Wednesday 12 October 2016.
A 28-year-old local woman has also been charged in relation to the cultivation of cannabis and was due to appear in the Alexandra District Court today.
Mr Inglis urges anyone with information in relation to methamphetamine or other controlled drugs to contact their local Police station.
