Police have had a relatively trouble free weekend throughout Central Otago during the annual Blossom Festival weekend.
Three arrests were made over the weekend. Two Alexandra locals, a 23-year-old and 16-year- old were dealt with for fighting. The 16-year old was released to his parents and the 23-year-old received a pre charge warning.
An 18- year old Alexandra man was also arrested for disorderly behaviour but was given a pre charge warning.
Police attended a crash early Saturday morning where a 38-year-old Alexandra man rolled his car between Queenstown and Cromwell. Despite significant damage to the vehicle the man continued driving until a member of the public saw him and contacted Police. He was stopped in Alexandra and has subsequently been charged with driving with excess breath alcohol and dangerous driving.
Thousands of visitors were in the area, and traffic flow was heavy, but there were no serious incidents reported.
Police had extra staff on duty given the number of visitors expected, but it was a well organised family focussed event, and those attending were well behaved.
