A man and a woman have been arrested and charged after a man was attacked with a baseball bat in Karoro, Greymouth, earlier today.
The incident occurred on Tasman Street, near the cemetery, shortly before 1pm.
The victim, who was hit around the head, was taken to hospital for assessment but his injuries, although serious, are not thought to be life-threatening.
A man has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and a woman has been arrested and charged with assault.
Both are due to appear before Greymouth District Court next week.
Police would like to thank members of the public for their support in this matter.
As it is now before the courts Police cannot comment further.
