SH1 down to one lane in North Waikato following crash

Traffic is down to one lane on State Highway One near Whangamarino Rd, North Waikato, following a car crash involving a fleeing vehicle.
 
SH1 near Whangamarino Rd will remain at one lane for most of the afternoon while Police investigate the scene where a stolen Subaru Legacy crashed into a stationary Police vehicle around 100m north SH1 and Paddy Rd, around 1.05pm.
 
A traffic diversion is also in place at Island Block Rd.
 
The stolen vehicle fled Police in East Tamaki and drove south on State Highway One before crashing into a stationary Police vehicle while the officer lay road spikes to stop the car.
 
No-one was injured in the crash.
 
A male youth has been arrested and will be charged.
 
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
