Police are asking locals to inform us if they have security cameras

Hawke’s Bay Police are investigating a spate of arson attacks on vehicles in Donald Place, Beamish Street, Lardon Place, Greenlea Place and Lowry Place in the Frimley area of Hastings.

Five vehicles have been deliberately set on fire from May to early September, all after midnight.

Three cars, a ute and a campervan have been targeted, mostly on driveways.

"We are appealing for residents to be vigilant and to immediately call 111 if they see any suspicious activity around their property,” says Detective Amy Bryant.

“We are also asking for locals in the areas to inform us if they have security cameras on their property as any images from the footage could prove useful in our inquiries.

“Police are determined to find those responsible for the arson attacks and to hold them to account for the damage caused."

Residents are reminded it’s vital that they ensure their security lighting and smoke alarms are in working order.

If you can assist Police in their enquiries, please call Hastings Police on 06 873 0531.

Alternatively, information may be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
