An extensive Police search is still underway to locate a man who shot at two unarmed Police officers in Northland early this morning.
A large Police operation involving staff from four districts, Northland, Waitemata, Auckland City and Counties Manukau, is continuing to find the man who is believed to be in possession of a firearm.
We have completed our enquiries in Northland and are now speaking with witnesses there. This remains a fluid investigation and we are now casting our enquiries into the greater Auckland area.
We are following a positive line of enquiry in relation to identifying the person responsible, and are doing everything we can to locate him and resolve the situation without anyone getting hurt.
The offender is described as possibly in his late 30s, up to 6ft tall with brown curly hair. He was reportedly wearing a blue t-shirt with white writing and a brown zip up hoodie.
We are still asking members of the public to call 111 immediately if they observe any suspicious behaviour or anybody fitting the description.
