Five people have died after a truck and a car collided on State Highway 2, near Dawsons Road in Tauranga.
The crash happened at about 8.15pm on Tuesday 2 August, 2016.
State Highway 2 is closed in both directions between Morton Road and Thompson's Track.
If motorists are driving to Tauranga from Waikato, Auckland or Coromandel, they cannot come through via Waihi. Motorists are advised to travel via the Kaimai Summit or Rotorua.The Serious Crash Unit and Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit are at the scene.
