1 min read

A third person has now been charged in relation to the largest-ever seizure of cocaine made in New Zealand.

Two male nationals from the US and Mexico appeared in the Manukau District Court this morning. The pair were arrested by Police at Auckland International Airport late last night as they tried to catch a flight to Hawaii.

The third man, a 29 year-old who is also a Mexican national, was arrested this morning in Christchurch.

He is facing the same charges as the two Auckland men and will remain in Police custody until he appears in the Christchurch District Court on Monday.

-Importing a class A drug, namely cocaine.

-Possession for supply of a class A drug, namely cocaine.

Another man and woman in Christchurch have spoken with Police.

The enquiry is ongoing and Police are not ruling out further arrests.

No further updates are expected to be provided this weekend and a media release will be made if there are any further developments next week.
