Southern Police encourage golf clubs to review security

1 min read

Southern District Police are reminding the public and service groups in the area to take precautions to protect their property and avoid becoming a victim of crime.

In recent weeks there has been criminal activity around a number of golf clubs in the Clutha Taieri area. In East Taieri firewood and a log splitter were taken, while in Balclutha a welder and tools were stolen during a burglary. Fees boxes in Clydevale, Alexandra and Oamaru have also been targeted with cash taken.

Senior Sergeant Al Dickie is encouraging golf clubs to review their security measure which should include sensor lights, cameras, alarms and locks.

Police ask that the public report any suspicious activity around golf courses across the Southern District immediately on 111.
