Dunedin Police are making progress in their investigations around two separate assaults which happened in the central city early on Sunday morning.
Police are following positive lines of enquiry into one of the incidents which was a violent assault, and believe an arrest is imminent.
In regards to the second incident, a serious sexual attack, Police need the public’s help to identify the offender.
At approximately 5:30 on Sunday morning following the rugby test match, a male was attacked by another male.
The offender was dressed as a woman and was carrying a jacket and a handbag. He is medium to athletic build, with long dark hair and is believed to be Maori or Polynesian.
Both the victim and the offender walked from the Octagon along George Street to where the attack took place in the vicinity of the Captain Cook Hotel and the Rob Roy Dairy.
Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything useful to their investigation.
