Firearms incident in Greymouth

Police are appealing for information about an armed incident in Greymouth, on Sunday 26 June 2016.

At around 4.30pm, two vehicles stopped on Marlborough Street. At least two people got out of the vehicles and had an altercation in the street, during which a firearm was presented and discharged. Both vehicles then left the scene. 

The Armed Offender Squad attended and a rifle was recovered. Nobody was injured.

A 29-year-old local man was arrested a short time later. He is due to appear before Greymouth District Court on Monday 27 June 2016.
