State Highway 29A at Maungatapu in Tauranga is still closed following a serious crash shortly after 10am involving four vehicles.
Two people have been transported to hospital with serious injuries and another two people have minor injuries.
Diversions are in place but there is severe congestion in the area so Police ask motorists to be patient and avoid the area where possible.
It’s hoped the road will reopen within the next two hours.
