There has been an increase in the number of daytime burglaries in Invercargill, particularly in the Georgetown and Richmond areas.
On 3 June 2016 a witness has seen a suspicious male up the drive way of a residence in Georgetown,Invercargill prior to a burglary occurring. This male is described as male Maori, approx. 178 cm tall, medium build and short length with a tribal tattoo on his calf.
And on the 9th June 2016 a witness has seen a suspicious male come out of a relative's driveway in Richmond, Invercargill stating that he was looking for his dog.
The informant then questioned the male as she thought this was odd and asked him what he was doing so he stated that he only lives a few streets down.
As soon as the informant has seen the male and spoken to him, he has started to leave on foot.
The informant then had a look around her sister's house to find that the back rear door has been jammed in the down position but not damaged.
No entry has been made to the house and no items appear to be missing. The offender in this case is described as a male Maori, wearing a black cap with a red logo on it, light black hoodie and light jeans with shoes that are dark coloured with green soles. He looked to be in his late 20s or early 30s, about 6ft tall, medium build.
