At about 6.05 pm on Sunday 5 June 2016 the Merivale TAB at 7 St Albans Street, Merivale was the target of an aggravated robbery.
There were two customers and a staff member on site.
Two offenders entered the premises through the rear door from the carpark. The offenders leapt the counter and demanded cash. One offender presented a pistol at a staff member.
Due to the security measures in place they were unable to access cash other than a small amount from the till and then left.
The offenders had their faces covered during the robbery.
The male carrying the pistol was described as:
- Male likely to be Maori or Polynesian
- Approximately 180cm
- Solid build but athletic and probably aged in his 20s
- He wore a light grey coloured sweatshirt with blue coloured sleeves
- One eye that was seen was described as a greyish-green colour
- Carried a black pistol length firearm
The second male is described as:
- Male likely to be Maori or Polynesian
- Aged in his 20s
- Solid build
- Approximately 170cm
- Wearing a black hoodie with a white coloured motif and light coloured pants.
