Warning for motorists due to high winds

Police in the South Island are warning motorists to take extra care on the roads due to high winds.

This afternoon Police report there have been two incidents of vehicles rolling with high winds suspected to be a contributing factor to the crashes. 

A trailer has overturned on State Highway 73 on the Springfield to West Coast Road. A recovery vehicle is attending and drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible. 
Also this afternoon on State Highway 79 on the Geraldine to Fairlie Highway a campervan has rolled.

In both incidents no injuries were reported.

Police are warning motorists of high sided vehicles and motorcycles to take precautions. 

Metservice have issued strong wind warnings for tonight through to tomorrow morning for Canterbury, Marlborough, Wellington and Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay south of Hastings.
