A 25-year-old man was arrested last night, 9 May 2016 for unlawfully taking a vehicle with a 16-month-old baby inside. The owner of the vehicle had recently driven into a driveway in Taneatua, in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, and parked the car with the child still in the carseat and went into the house. The vehicle was then taken.
The vehicle was found a short time later and the child was found unharmed at a nearby address.
The man will be appearing in court today on unlawful taking and drink driving charges and inquiries are still continuing.
