At around 4.30am this morning a vehicle has crashed into a group of shops on the corner of Portage and Station Roads.
A gas main has been ruptured and both the vehicle and shop have caught fire.
The fire is under control and Vector are working to turn off the gas main.
At this stage, Police believe there is one person in the vehicle but due to safety concerns have not yet been able to get close enough.
We do not yet know if there was anyone else in the vehicle and there is no one believed to be in any of the shops. A nearby address has been evacuated as a precaution.
Police ask that motorists avoid the area as there are a number of road closures and diversions in place.
Cordons have been established on Gray Avenue, Portage Road and Station Road.
The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance.
There will be no further update until later today.
