A motor vehicle crash shortly before 2.00pm on Sunday 17/04/16 has blocked State Highway 2 in the Aongatete area of the Western Bay of Plenty. The blockage is near the intersection of SH2 and Morton Road.
A car has struck a power pole and there are live power lines blocking the State Highway in both directions.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area altogether if at all possible. The closure is expected to last a few hours.
Emergency services are working to re-open the road but Police advise to seek alternative routes or delay travel through the area.
