West Coast Police will be in Karamea on Monday 8 February to provide an opportunity for interested members of the public to find out more about the Police service delivery review.
West Coast Area Commander Inspector Mel Aitken and local staff will be available to explain the proposal and clarify any matters with individuals at the Last Resort between 3pm and 6pm.
Inspector Aitken said she encouraged people to take the opportunity to drop in at any time during the three hour period and speak directly with her and other West Coast officers.
She said a similar session in Hokitika on Tuesday 2 February was well received, with people able to have meaningful conversations with staff members and seek clarification.
“A range of matters were raised, including the fact that people felt the session hadn’t been well publicised and that some community members may have missed out. As I said at the outset we will schedule more consultation if the demand is there.
“I want to ensure that the community is forming a view on the proposal based on accurate information. By consulting with you we also have the opportunity to identify any area where our current proposal could be improved,” she said.
