We're here to help this summer
With the holiday season now well and truly upon us, all of us at New Zealand Police wish you all a happy and safe summer.
We'll be working through to provide help if you need it. You can help as well by being aware of the risks and taking simple precautions.
If you're on the road, stay within the speed limit and drive to the conditions. If we have cause to speak to you at the roadside, it's because we want you and others to get to your and their destinations safe and sound. Ask Constable Steven Spencer...
It's a busy season for Police and volunteer Search and Rescue teams. Whatever your activity - whether you're out on a boat, in the bush or just at the beach - follow the rules and enjoy yourselves safely.
If you're hitting the sales, remember thieves are also looking to pick up a few bargains - namely yours. This video embedded on this page is a reminder to take any valuables with you whenever you park the car.
This is also a prime time of year for burglary, with homes left unattended or left unsecure with windows open in the hot weather. You'll find some good advice about home security here.
It's not a happy season for everyone, with a traditional peak in family violence in December and January. If your family is feeling the pressure, remember it's OK to ask for help.
Best wishes New Zealand.
