Dunedin Police are continuing their investigation into the assault of a 23 year-old woman in Ross Creek on Monday, 30 November 2015, and are asking the public for further help in identifying the offender.
Police are releasing an image of a mannequin of what the victim indicates the offender was wearing. This includes a black balaclava the offender wore during the attack.
We are looking to hear from anyone who has seen someone wearing the clothing described with or without the balaclava. We’re also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a discarded balaclava in the wider area.
During the assault, the woman was bound by the offender and police can now confirm this was done with black cable or zip ties. Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a man in the area matching the clothing in the photo who was carrying a bag or pack.
Police are also looking to identify a man who has approached another woman on Monday night. The woman has brought this to the attention of police, and has been involved in describing the man for a composite photo. Police are asking anyone who recognises this man to contact police.
Anyone with information on either the clothing or the composite photo is asked to contact the Dunedin Central Police Station on 03 471 4800. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
