One man has died following a crash on SH32 at Tihoi, north-west of Taupo, last night.
The crash occurred at approximately 8.15pm when a Holden Commodore lost control and struck a bank. The driver and sole occupant, who was in his 20s, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
Initial enquiries indicate it was a high-speed crash and police are able to confirm that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
A serious crash investigation is underway and no details of the driver will be released until next of kin have been informed.
