Incident at Invercargill school - Update 4

Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a serious incident at Sacred Heart School at around 8.35am on Friday 18 September 2015.

Police can now confirm the 10 year-old boy was injured by an electric fence standard and suffered a serious head injury.

As a result of the incident, he was taken to Southland Hospital and later transferred to Dunedin where he underwent surgery. He has since come out of the induced coma, but remains in a serious condition.

Preliminary enquires have also confirmed the incident involved a 9 year-old boy who is also a student at the school. 

Police and Victim Support staff continue to assist the families involved along with school staff and pupils.
