Oamaru Police are asking anyone who witnessed a fatal crash on Oamaru-Alma Road (State Highway 1) just outside the Alma Caltex petrol station to contact police.
The crash resulted in the 55 year-old female driver of the vehicle dying at the scene, while a second person was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.
The condition of the second person has since improved, however will be staying in hospital under observation.
