<p>Hamilton Police are currently investigating an incident that unfolded in the late evening of Monday the 3rd of August 2015.</p>
<p>This incident occurred after a male attempted to solicit sex using social media. In 2003, soliciting sex was made legal by the Prostitution Reform Act 2003.</p>
<p>Acting Detective Sergeant Andrew Hawke of the Hamilton CIB said, “After making contact with this woman, the victim has met with her in the Hillcrest area of Hamilton.”</p>
<p>Two males and a female associate have joined the woman.</p>
<p>Mr Hawke said, “The four offenders have then threatened the male, blackmailing him to hand over money. They have threatened him and his flatmate with a knife before entering their address and robbing him of this money.”</p>
<p>Police are requesting the public’s assistance with this matter.</p>
<p>Mr Hawke said, “Due to the specific methods used by the offenders and the clear planning involved, other people may have been victimised by these people.”</p>
