Police and specialist fire investigators will today continue their examination at the scene of a fire that gutted a shed in the early hours of Thursday morning near Karangarua.
Due to the intensity of the blaze the investigation is expected some time to complete.
The fire was reported about 3am and the shed, which was about 20m x 30m and had a mezzanine living area, had been completely destroyed by that time.
A vehicle was located outside the shed raising concerns that there may be someone inside the building. Investigators discovered human remains in the rubble yesterday.
Identification of the deceased person will rely on forensic testing.
