Police are seeking information that will assist in locating Stephen Martin Cookson, who is alleged to have threatened two Police Officers with a screwdriver.

There are warrants to arrest the 34 year old on charges of Assault with a Weapon and for Escaping Custody in relation to the incident which occurred on Wednesday 8 July 2015 at around 7:45am on Puhinui Road.

Cookson has strong ties to Papatoetoe and Manurewa, but has links around the greater Auckland area and throughout the Northland region. He often goes by the name of Martin or Marty.

“Cookson should be considered dangerous, and should not be approached,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Ellwood.

“He has shown a willingness to use violence against law enforcement to avoid arrest and escape custody and anyone who sees him should call Police immediately.”

He is described as Maori, 173 centimetres tall, and of solid build. He has a picture of a scorpion on his left forearm, along with tribal tattoos on both upper arms.

Anyone with information on Cookson’s whereabouts should contact Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Ellwood on 09 213 9443.

Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
