This morning Hutt Valley Police and staff from the Central Asset Recovery Unit executed search warrants and restraining orders pursuant to the Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act 2009 at an address in Wainuiomata.
A number of assets were restrained including eight motor vehicles and two residential properties, with a combined value of approximately $470,000.00.
This morning’s termination follows an investigation into the alleged cultivation of cannabis at the address. This investigation began during Operation Jasmin, Police’s nationwide cannabis recovery operation.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brent Murray from the Central Asset Recovery Unit said the Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act investigation is on-going.
“The financial investigation is continuing to establish the extent of the benefit obtained through the criminal activity identified” said Detective Senior Sergeant Brent Murray.
“Initial enquiries indicate significant income has been generated from the cultivation and sale of cannabis.”
“New Zealand Police, including the Asset Recovery Units, will continue to target organised criminal groups who are involved in the production and sale of controlled drugs. Our aim is to continue to dismantle and disrupt criminal enterprises and to prevent the harm they cause in the community.”
