A 36-year-old Kerikeri man has been arrested and charged in relation to two aggravated robberies.

One of the aggravated robberies occurred at the Homestead Tavern in Kerikeri on June 9. The other aggravated robbery was the home invasion, which occurred at an address on Three Mile Bush Road, Kamo on Tuesday afternoon.

The man will appear in the Kaikohe District Court today on a total of 16 charges, including aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

He was arrested after a short vehicle pursuit yesterday afternoon in Shepherd Road, Kerikeri.

The victims of both robberies are slowly recovering from their ordeal and are still receiving support.

“This matter was able to be resolved quickly due to good information received from the community, who were appalled by this man’s actions. Good urgent work by Police work has prevented further harm,” said Detective Inspector Kevin Burke.

The vehicle stolen from Three Mile Bush Road has been recovered in Haruru Falls.
The firearm used Homestead Tavern robbery still remains outstanding.
Enquiries are continuing to identify the co-offender for the Homestead Tavern.
