On the 19th of April at approximately 2:40am a vehicle containing a single occupant has left the road near Vivian Street, New Plymouth.
The vehicle has driven through a bridge barrier and fallen approximately 5 meters coming to rest in a carpark below.
Emergency services attended and the male driver, believed to be in his 40's was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles or people were involved in the accident.
There is minimal disruption to normal traffic flow, however at this time New Plymouths Vivian Street one way system has one lane closed while the investigation continues. It is expected to be open fully later today.
New Plymouth Police assisted by the Serious Crash Uint are investigating and inquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
