A colourful constable
It’s all right – it comes off… Auckland ethnic liaison officer Constable Rob Stanton ended up wearing more than Police blue when he was invited to attend an event celebrating Holi, the Hindu festival of colours.
Rob was at the Three Kings Reserve as a guest of Humm FM, a Hindi radio station which hosts his weekly crime prevention updates. As is traditional at Holi, the coloured powder flew.
“Pretty soon I was involved in the festivities and covered in dust from head to toe,” says Rob. “It was good fun and everybody was a good sport.”
A soak and a wash got the colour out of his vest and shirt – and coconut oil was recommended for getting it off the skin. “If anyone’s thinking of taking part in Holi, the good news is the colour does come off quite easily,” he says.
Meanwhile, over in Waitakere…
