Auckland City Police are pleased by the 30,000 fans who enjoyed today’s ICC Cricket World Cup match at Eden Park between India and Zimbabwe. There were a total of 2 arrests and 28 evictions during the match.
Auckland City Police Operational Commander for the ICC Cricket World Cup Inspector Peter Gibson says that Police are continuing to work closely with volunteers and partner agencies at Cricket World Cup matches to ensure each event is safe for all.
“We feel that once again Auckland has hosted a fantastic event that was enjoyed by everyone who attended.
“We applaud those who have attended Eden Park matches to date and look forward to another great event in ten days’ time,” says Inspector Gibson.
Maori Wardens, Pacific Wardens, Auckland Safety Patrollers and Community Patrols of NZ assisted Police on all the transport routes to and from Eden Park.
