Shots fired at flats in Tokoroa

1 min read

Police in Tokoroa are investigating possible motives behind a number of shots being fired at a block of flats early this morning (Monday, 23 February).

The incident occurred at the intersection of Benella Street and Billah Street at approximately  2.30am.

A small number of projectiles from a firearm have entered two of the flats causing minor damage.

Detective Senior Sergeant Graham Perks said: “Fortunately the occupants of the flats were asleep at the time and no-one was injured.”

Police are particularly interested in an orange coloured vehicle that was seen on Billah Street at the time of the incident. The vehicle involved is believed to have travelled along Benella Street where at least one shot was fired, before it turned right onto Billah Street and discharged further shots before leaving the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Tokoroa Police on 07 885 0100. Information can also be provided anonymously to the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
