Police have identified the body of a man who was washed ashore near Tamaterau in the Whangarei Harbour.
His car and boat trailer were located near the corner of Waikaraka Beach Road and Whangarei Heads Road.
Police are now searching for the man’s missing boat.
The body was discovered early this morning by a member of the public who saw a lifejacket in the water at the end of Scott Road. He went to hook up the lifejacket and found the man holding on to it.
